How long does my studio session last?

We want you to relax, have fun and enjoy your session in our studio. If space allows, you are welcome to stay as long as you wish, however, your studio fee allows for 2 hours use and during very busy periods we would have to stick to those timings.

If, for whatever reason, you do not complete your painting in the time that you have, we would invite you to return (at no extra cost to yourself) on another occasion. 

 

Why do I pay a studio fee?

This is a nominal charge covering instruction, use of the studio, use of all materials and equipment; the cost and  time it takes for us to glaze and fire your masterpieces ready for collection and unlimited juice for all painters under 16, throughout their session here.

In addition, at Saramique Studio we offer every painter a demonstration tour of our on-site workshop; showing you what happens 'behind the scenes' to your pot after you leave it with us. Children especially, become very attached to their creation after putting all that effort in and we have found it really helps them to understand why they then have to leave it with us and why that process takes time.

At Saramique Studio you pay one studio fee per painter and paint as many items as you wish to, within that time...we do not pass any extra paint or glazing cost onto every piece you decide to do. We want you to encourage you to stay and enjoy!

What age is this activity suitable for?

Pottery painting quite literally spans all generations!

It is not very often groups of friends or family can find an activity where every member is accommodated for, regardless of their differences...but pottery painting is exactly that!

It is important to us that you are relaxed throughout your stay here and we encourage families with even the youngest of members to try this activity. There are few things more adorable than the painted footprints of a new born, or the sheer surprise of a parent with a toddler who has realised that we place no pressure whatsoever on families to 'conform'...mess is ok by us...tantrums are ok by us...real life is ok by us!

Never will we forget the family who visited us in our first opening week; the father proudly explaining on checkout that despite his teenage sons protest at their suggestion of 'family time, pottery painting', he had genuinely loved it...and importantly, that he had spoken to his son more in those last 2 hours than he had in the previous 2 weeks!

Are You breastfeeding welcome?

Yes, absolutely. We support all parental choices and are breastfeeding welcome as well as having facility for bottle warming in the studio. Should any parent or carer choose to feed in private, they are welcome to use our dedicated family washroom, which has excellent changing facilities (customer toilet is separate!), wash facilities and comfortable seating.

Do you have wheelchair access?

We understand that every person has entirely different needs to another. We therefore do not make judgement about whether our facility is suitable or accessible for your needs, but prefer to provide you with as much information as possible, so that you may make your own judgement. We are happy to send doorway measurements, photos etc. of external and internal access points.
